Meet The Doctor

Dr. Charlene Thorburn

I’m Dr. Thorburn and for my entire life, I have wanted to help people. I decided at the age of two to be a nurse, and when I hit 17, I headed for college with Nursing as my major. I did fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse, and I worked in the critical care unit and the emergency room of a major hospital for 12 years. During that time I was able to work alongside the physicians and I learned a lot about diagnosing and treating the ill and injured.

During my nursing career, I became curious about why people were getting ill and needing the medication and surgeries that we so often performed, so I began looking at preventative care. That led me to chiropractic. Here was something I could sink my teeth into - a way to prevent illness and disability, not just try to patch someone up.

After graduating from chiropractic college, I worked for another chiropractor and learned how to care for chiropractic patients. I opened my Burbank chiropractic office in 1985 and I have been enjoying every day.

It is an honor to be able to really help people feel great and find better health. Every patient is important to me and I apply all my skills to help each person get well.

Community Service

Our Burbank chiropractic office has been active in the community since 1985.

Dr. Thorburn has served on the Board of Directors of the Burbank YMCA, the Burbank Red Cross, and the Burbank Chamber of Commerce.

We have participated many times in Burbank on Parade. We usually have an exotic animal join us in our walk down the parade route. So far we have had an elephant, a camel, a bison, a water buffalo, llamas, a unicorn, and a human stilt walker. In 2007, we had a 35-foot fabric spine like a Chinese dragon. And 2008 we had an Elvis impersonator and our banner asked, “Do you want a pelvis like Elvis?”

We continually participate in various community events such as the YMCA Healthy Kid’s Day, health fairs, and union events, and we have hosted Kid’s Day America in our office. We have delivered safety programs to various businesses and charities.

Each Christmas we help the Salvation Army with their Angel Tree Project by encouraging our patients to donate gifts for the needy children in our community. For several summers we have sent children to YMCA summer camp.

Dr. Thorburn regularly delivers workshops and lectures in the community on topics such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Headaches, Back Pain, and more. She is available to speak to groups and organizations. We also have a “Lunch and Learn” program where we come to local businesses for a 20-minute lunchtime workshop.
