Client Getting Seen by patient

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of locating and correcting misalignments of the spine and other joints through gentle, specific care.

We focus on the spine because your nervous system lives there. The brain is the organ that controls your entire body. In order to control the body, the brain must be able to communicate to all your body parts. It does that by sending signals through the nerves.

If your nerves work perfectly, the brain can get its messages out to the entire body and your health is excellent. If a nerve stops functioning perfectly, the brain cannot get its signals out along that nerve, and the body part connected to that nerve will not work right. As a result, that organ weakens and becomes susceptible to illness.

If a bone in the spine (vertebrae) moves out of place slightly, it can put pressure on the nerve and cause it to stop working correctly. This is called a “subluxation”. We repair the subluxation and the body is able to work again.

3 Phases of Care

Relief care is designed to get you out of pain quickly. We work as a team to make your symptoms go away. You will be seen frequently, and all necessary treatments will be done to get you feeling great fast. This could include adjustments, physiotherapy, deep muscle work and supplements to reduce inflammation and speed up healing. Once you are out of pain it is vital to move to the next phase of care.

Repair care is where real healing occurs. Through a personalized schedule, you will receive all necessary care to help you repair the damage and truly fix the underlying problem, not just fix the symptoms. As your body heals, the frequency of care is reduced until you are stable and strong. Once your body has recovered most people find that wellness care is the next logical step to prevent a return of the problem.

Proactive or wellness care consists of periodic “tune-ups” that keep keep your spine and nervous system working properly for the rest of your life. If one stops care, the spine will return to it’s subluxated position due to the memory still in the ligaments and cartilage that occurred when the bone was out of place.

Most of our patients maintain their health and well being with an adjustment once a month. In addition to spinal care, taking the correct supplements for your body will give it the things it needs to build healthy cells every day. We also have some simple spinal exercises that keep the spine strong and help keep the bones in place. Call us at (818) 841-1313 for more information.
